Meet the Therapists!

Seppo Johannes Pakkala
Seppo has been in the construction world since 1969, running his own business for many years. He took over the Steam Baths from his parents in 1991 where they remain immaculate and continue to flourish.
In 1995 Seppo’s career took a turn when he decided to go to massage school at M.I.N.E. This was second nature to him since his Father, Pentti, spent many years as a Massage Therapist alongside his carpentry work. In 1997 Seppo followed this theme by taking Reiki I, II and Master Reiki Practitioner.
This dramatically changed Seppo’s perspective on life. He continued his studies with The Upledger Institute demanding huge time and financial commitments, traveling throughout the USA. Between 1997 and 1998 he completed Craniosacral I and II and also SomatoEmotional release (S.E.R.) I.
At the same time he started his studies in Visceral Manipulation. This included Visceral Manipulation I a, Ib and II, Practical Integration of Visceral Manipulation, Visceral Listening Techniques and Advanced Visceral Manipulation. He completed this in November 2000.
An addition to these classes was Lymphatic Drainage I and II in 2001.
Seppo’s career took a further turn this time perhaps more towards the Metaphysical with The BodyTalk system. During 2001 he completed modules 1-9 and has repeated many of them since.
Seppo had found his niche. Using Massage as his basic tool he beautifully combines his other skills in a subtle and non-invasive way. He provides people with a sacred space to feel what they need to feel and let go of what they’re holding onto in their lives.

Nicki
Pakkala
Nicki trained as a Physiotherapist at The London Hospital in England completing her BSc(Hons) Degree in 1992. She worked for 3 years to Senior Level in the National Health Service before leaving to work in an elite Sports Injury Clinic in West London.
During this time Nicki studied various Physiotherapy techniques extensively and, in particular, Muscle Imbalance.
In 1995 she connected up with Manual Therapy Seminars of Colorado assisting on their courses. These were on the mechanical assessment and treatment of the spine and pelvis, Myofascial Release, Spinal Manipulation and Craniosacral Therapy.
At the same time Nicki was training intensively as a Modern Pentathlete competing for GBR at major championships including Worlds and Europeans. This has given her tremendous insight and interest in the biomechanics of motion and psychology. In 1998 she was the on-site Physiotherapist for the elite athletes at the London Marathon and was the GBR Physiotherapist at the Womens World 1/2 Marathon Championships. She was also the GBR Physiotherapist for the Modern Pentathlon team at the 1998 Senior European and World Championships.
In the beginning of 1998 Nicki began her studies with The Upledger Institute UK with Craniosacral Therapy I and II. This was followed by SomatoEmotional Release I and II in 1999 and Advanced Craniosacral Therapy in 2000. Coinciding with this Nicki began her Visceral Manipulation studies in 1999 reaching Advanced in 2000.
Changing to a private clinic and working self-employed enabled Nicki to travel for 2-3 months in the US taking and assisting on courses. These included Mechanical Link, Cadaver Dissection, BodyTalk, Cranial and Visceral. In 2000-2001 Nicki also took Reiki I and II and Craniosacral for Horses, Cats and Dogs. On returning from the US, Nicki went straight to Australia having been selected as the team Equestrian Physiotherapist in the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games.
In 2001-2002, courses completed have been Lymphatic Drainage I and II, Horse Dissection and BodyTalk up to Module 9. Nicki became Certified as a BodyTalk Practitioner in early 2002.
Since moving to the US in November 2001, Nicki has been predominantly using BodyTalk and the other modalities when indicated. More recently she has been interested in developing an animal client base with excellent results. Having been closely brought up with animals and starting horse riding at the age of two years old it was a natural and easy progression to begin working with them.
